Our travels, thoughts, and pictures. We like rocks, and birds, and flowers, and lighthouses, and turtles, and waterfalls, and sunsets, and lots of other stuff.

We had been neglecting our local nature trails. I got up on Mother’s day, after a full Saturday of birdwatching and looked at eBird to see what had been seen near our home. To my surprise a Yellow-crowned Night Heron had been sighted just down the street from our home. We had seen a Yellow-crowned Night Heron in Florida in March and added him to our life lists, but he does not belong in my neighborhood.

I made a Mother’s Day breakfast and we got around. We went down the street hoping to see the rare bird.

Here are a couple of his pictures.

Rabbit River Nature Trail is a nice little nature preserve. It is less than a mile from our home. It is actually at the end of our street. The facility includes a pavilion and restrooms. Dogs are welcome.
